Tips on Handstand
/
I've been working on my handstands lately. Here are three tips I want to share:
- Practice crow pose. Once you understand the way weight of your head brings you off the floor (and the way the pose is as much about balance as it is about strength), you'll be closer to pulling off this inversion.
- Increase your arm strength by holding plank, doing pushups, or checking out these exercises suggested by April over at Hearts Expanding. Remember to breathe!
- Relax. Remember that the journey to handstand isn't an easy one. It's taken me three years of practice plus one summer of intense trial and error, and I'm still not there. Yoga is a journey, not a destination; remember that where you are in the pose today is perfect for your body.
