Reflections on Depression, and How to Find Healing

My heart feels heavy with the news of Robin
Williams passing. I've experienced depression before, and it is hard. Really
hard. My heart goes out to his family and the many people who are feeling the
weight of that loss.
I am dedicating my practice this week to those who are
suffering – to anyone who is feeling depressed. May you find small moments of
peace, and may you remember that you are worth the struggle, and that you are
strong.
For me, at some of the times that I felt the worst it helped
to do these things:
- to journal about my experiences, and to write down what I'm grateful for
- to acknowledge my real feelings, even when it was scary
- to practice yoga
If you are depressed, I encourage you to seek help. Talk to
someone and just let them know how you’re doing. Let the people who love you
help hold you up.
I also invite you to send me an email… I’m happy to answer
any questions you might have about yoga or meditation, to share resources and
readings that have helped me, and just to give you a virtual hug.

Please remember that you
are not alone and you are most
definitely loved. Even if you don’t feel that way today, it’s true.
Love you guys, and wishing you much peace. Namaste.
