Recovering After Tough Workouts or a Muscle Strain
/Recovery is essential, especially after a challenging workout.
I’m finding this to be more and more important as the years go by ;)
Recently at the gym I did a strong leg day and found my low back wasn’t the happiest about it. It wasn’t a full-on injury but I just felt a little off and knew I had overdone it a bit.
So, I remembered to get back to basics on my recovery routine.
Here are some of my go-to practices after a difficult workout or if I’m feeling like a muscle is strained.
Rest. Ice if necessary. Slow down and listen to my body.
Stretch mindfully. Invite gentle movement and go for walks instead of doing heavy workouts for the next 24-48 hours after.
Use CBD and arnica gel. This CBD Sports Cream has been a lifesaver lately! I love the menthol and camphor— the minty scent and cooling feel help relieve pain.
Use my tens unit for muscle stim. Suuuuuper helpful.
Prioritize sleep and hydration. These are always essential but especially when recovering from a hard workout or dealing with an injury.
