On Natural Beauty

On natural beauty

I don't have to make myself look any different than I do

I don't need to hide

I don't need for everything to be perfectly symmetrical, or a certain size

The love I have for my body is grounded in practicality

Function,

Strength,

Spirit,

An adventurous climb

Over mountains of insecurity

That for so long held weight over me

And now, standing looking down, the beautiful valley in the distance,

The beautiful sunset surrounding me

Body of water

Body of my heart

Body of love

I can accept that this ongoing journey

Is a life well-lived.

Wrinkles

Grays

All the gorgeous signs of age

Are a reminder of how lucky I am to live the years,

And what a privilege it is to be here

All of my days.
