Summer's Arrival
/ Rachel WarmathSummer’s Arrival
A poem honoring the solstice
Soft petals
unraveling in the heat,
a steady breath,
rhythmic, sweet
rustling of the wind in the trees.
This is a song.
Your footsteps
on the cool floor,
the open window,
a glass of water.
You pouring
what is yours
into a gold basin.
Sweat.
Hunger.
The way fruit ripens
and the world stands still.
I will keep this.
Poetry is its own form of healing.
Namaste.
