6 Habits that Make Me More Productive

I love being productive. It gives me a sense of satisfaction to get things done and to pursue my ambitious goals with courage.

But, like everyone, I sometimes struggle to stay focused. I procrastinate. I get distracted.

I’ve learned over the years that staying productive is not just about having the drive to push forward and work hard— it’s also (and perhaps more so) about honoring my body’s natural rhythms and knowing what my energy levels are, so I can rest when it’s time to rest.

Instead of forcing, I can work efficiently when the timing is right and take breaks when I’m tired.

Here are 6 habits that boost my productivity and efficiency.

1) Getting to bed by 9-9:30pm so I can get 7-9 hours of sleep (ideally 8-9+ hours)

2) Walking every morning, which helps with mental clarity, a boost in my metabolism, and regulating my circadian rhythm (which then contributes to #1)

3) Keeping lists, but not beating myself up if I don't get as much done as I had hoped for the day

4) Doing Reiki on myself every day, which helps me discern when I am feeling energized and it's time to work on a project and when I'm feeling depleted and it's time to take a break

5) Meal prepping

6) Yoga, to relieve tension and stiffness (if I'm feeling tense or uncomfortable, sitting at my desk becomes harder to do, so I get squirrely)

What helps you feel and stay productive? I'd love to hear!
