Laser-Beam Focused
/ Rachel WarmathLearn how to focus and conserve your energy. This is a big lesson I've learned from strength training. Each rep is energy output. So is complaining or whining about doing another rep.
When I hit that point of muscle fatigue and my mind starts making up stories about how easy it would be to quit— when I'm on rep 9 out of 10 and I'm wanting to cut corners— that's when it's time to get real clear on where I'm putting my energy. Focus up. Take one deep breath, Rach, get your shoulders back, and keep going.
We can apply this mental self-discipline to any area of life. When challenges arrive, notice exactly what you give your energy to. Is it the fear? The story of victimhood? The pain? Or do you set your focus on how powerful you truly are? How far you've come? And how determined you are to get where you are going? Become laser-beam focused and watch what it does for your performance.
