New Year's Resolutions That Can Change Your Life For The Better
/Do you set resolutions or goals at the start of a new year?
Here are a few simple things to focus on as we move into 2022.
Smile as much as possible
The simple act of smiling can make you happier and healthier! Did you know that smiling triggers the production of dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin, neurotransmitters that alleviate stress and evoke happy emotions? In other words, while your brain normally controls your muscles, your muscles have the ability to impact your brain as well. For the most part, the brain detects the flexion of our face muscles and, assuming that we must be pleased with something, begins to make us feel happier. Smiling also shows in our eyes, and that lets people find out a little more about us, as shown by these quotes about eyes.
Develop a health and fitness routine that works for you
The benefits of frequent physical activity on one's health are well acknowledged. However, in addition to lowering stress and disease risk, as well as increasing mood, energy, and sleep, doing regular exercise and eating healthy can also help you look to be a more effective leader in your organization. In fact, according to the Harvard Business Review, those who appear to be in good health are judged to be better leaders than those who appear to be smart.
Make time for you
Schedule in your down time and fun activities you love. Schedule in self care. Schedule in time with family and friends. Schedule in alone time doing things that make you feel awesome!
Don’t over commit yourself
Many books and articles have been written about the "fake it until you make it" attitude, which refers to committing to things that are outside your comfort zone in an effort to grow and improve one's life. Yet, there is a balance to this. If something comes up that you don’t want to do, be willing to say no to it.
Reflect on what you love and what you don’t love. Say yes to things that light you up— because you deserve to feel amazing, day in and day out. Start of the year, all the way to the end of it.
