12 Ways to Feel Amazing
/Our daily choices determine a lot.
Are you waiting for things to get better, but not sure what to change?
Take back your power with these simple actions. Care for yourself in a mindful, meaningful way. You deserve to feel amazing!
Rest Well
Sleep is key! If you are struggling to get restful sleep, or enough sleep, its time to make a change. Controlling the environment and energy in your bedroom, creating a consistent bedtime routine, and ensuring that you’re getting enough exercise can all help you sleep better.
Morning Routines
Create a calm, grounding morning routine to set the tone for your day. How do you want to feel when you wake up? What do you want to focus your mind on immediately upon waking?
Healthy Breakfasts
Choosing light, energizing foods for breakfast can help you kickstart the day. Consider ingredients that’ll give you energy throughout the day, as opposed to heavy foods.
Running and Cold Showers
Ever tried it? Go for a short run, jog or walk and then jump in a cold shower. Start with just 20-30 seconds of cold water and eventually work your way up to 1-2 minutes. Cold temperatures help increase circulation and reduce inflammation, plus you’ll have a jolt of energy to start the day.
Get Organized
Organization helps clear the mind. Make time for your daily and weekly chores, keep lists or write out a calendar, and plan for some down time to catch up on things. Picking up around the house can go a long way for peace of mind, too!
Boost Your Immune System
How often do you get sick? If you’re experiencing illness on a frequent basis, consider getting back to basics. What are you eating? Are you getting consistent exercise? How’s your sleep? When your basic needs are being met, then your immune system will be in a healthier position.
Be Proactive About Your Health and Address Concerns Right Away
Regular checkups, maintenance through practices like massage and chiropractic, and proactively caring for yourself after minor injuries can go a long way. As we age, it’s more and more important to care for our bodies and address any issues as they come up. Take your eyesight, for instance. If it’s not what it once was, then book an eye test appointment. Once you have your prescription, look here to find glasses that suit your personal style. As you take ownership for your health, you give yourself more empowerment and confidence that you’ll continue to feel amazing.
Mix It Up
Get out of your comfort zone. Try new things! Foods, activities, travel, meeting new people. All of these can help you feel vibrant as you challenge yourself to create new routines. Even taking a walk in a new place or driving a different route on your commute can help you get out of your head and into the present moment.
Get Outside
Nature is good medicine! Studies have shown that spending a few hours in nature each week can have a profoundly positive impact on your overall well being. Time spent outdoors can decrease anxiety and feelings of depression. Even if you don’t feel motivated to go, just go— you’ll be glad you did.
Be Kind
Studies have shown that while we like to receive, we prefer to give. It makes us feel good to make other people feel good! Random acts of kindness are an excellent way to add more gratitude into your life. Give it a try! You can see some ideas of what you can do here.
Slow Down
How often do you make time for relaxation and rest? Do you have days on the calendar with no plans? Give yourself permission to slow down and reconnect with yourself. You could go for a walk, unwind with a book, practice yoga, or practice meditation. Choose something that feels nourishing to you.
Treat Yourself
Finally, why not treat yourself? A lot of people dedicate a significant amount of time and energy to their families, jobs, other people, yet overlook themselves. You should be on your priorities list too! When you need it, look at giving yourself a little gift. It could be getting a massage, buying a new item of clothing, or just setting some time aside to do what you want.
